Thanks for another brilliant slideshow. Always great content here. One point: I don’t recall seeing typos on viz.edu, but there are at least 4 in this post. Not a huge distraction, but it’s there.

One other reason companies may not readily adopt 2.0 concerns corporate culture – including but not limited to the degree to which a company feels comfortable with public conversations, and sharing ‘control’. I’d love to see this explored in further reports. Thanks.

Hi Ben,
Thanks for the nice words. And thanks for pointing out the typos.
I take full accountability – of this. We have fixed all typos in this one and will make sure there are no typos going forward.
What actually happens is – these Flash Animations take 3-7 days to complete – from Concept to Release. We are under
pressure to release fresh content – we have a team of Flash Developers who focus on the graphics and tend to miss out on the typos. Just wanted to provide a inside story – a inside peek – there is no justification for typos.
I have assigned a QA person – who will QA the sideshow prior to release.

sandeep. great stuff. simplified it beautifully.
agree with the point lisa makes too, control. fear of not having it makes a lot of individuals uncomfortable. corporates even more.

Thank you for this. I’ve been reading and re-reading the report a few times already and this graphical ‘instance’ is helping form my own ideas, as well as prepare me to describe to colleagues.

Very creatively done! I agree with the comments made above about the importance of organizational culture and web 2.0. We spend a lot of time on this issue, which I call “Creating a Web 2.0-Friendly Culture.” The crux is that large organizations are culturally incompatible with transparency, user control, etc. that are foundations of web 2.0. Bottom line is that managers/leaders need to learn these skills.

Anne: Thanks for the insights. I totally agree with you – “Creating a Web2.0 Friendly Culture” is the foundation of success – yet in many organizations this very piece is missing. Lisa also brings up the point of culture.
